The Mermaid Zine, Digital Version
A downloadable zine
The Mermaid Zine is a 57 page text-based zine containing four pieces of writing on the topic of merfolk, lovingly sewn together. There are four main pieces of writing in this zine. Firstly, I review the merfolk of The Sims 3. Then, I dive into the transgender implications of The Little Mermaid, both the animated movie and the original story. I explore and retell the story of Agnete and the Merman while also researching the man who drew their tale. Finally, there is a post-apocalyptic sapphic love story between an immortal and a mermaid.
There is both a readable version and a printable version. I would highly recommend printing out this zine, as the zine was designed to be printed first and read online second. If you can't be bothered to fold a 57 page zine (fair), you can check out my store where you can buy a physical, preassembled version and bundles with the zine in.
This digital version also includes the original drawing of the mermaid on the front cover.
I am also submitting this digital zine to the Text Heavy Zine Jam, a jam all about creating zines which are primarily about their text. I am very excited to submit this zine seeing as I am primarily a writer, and love creating/buying text-based zines! Please support the jam and other submissions!
Both the zine and the picture are meant for personal use only. They are not for resale. Thank you!
